Aims and Objectives of this project

Aims:

  • I intend to produce an EP of tracks for the band ‘Your Cat is a Landmine.’
  • The EP will be professionally recorded and mixed to an industry standard. I will measure this by comparing the audio quality to several high-profile artists whom I feel are similar musically.
  • The recorded material will be original music by the band and will therefore require creative choices which I will attempt to advise on.
  • The success of the project will be judged both on the satisfaction of the client and on the quality of the production of the tracks.
  • The research involved in this project will provide influence on the recording and mixing techniques. I will research artists who have a similar sound to the band I will be recording and will provide a playlist of tracks to the band which will influence the recording and mixing techniques.

Individual learning outcomes – By the end of this project I aim to:

  • Capture drums in a way that betters my own previous work and is comparable in production to tracks listed in my influence playlist (LO1)
  • Mix drums in a way that betters my own previous work and is comparable in production to tracks listed in my influence playlist (LO2)
  • Capture and mix a multi-layered set of vocal recordings that add power and space to a piece of music. I aim to improve on vocal recordings I have done in the past and experiment with new techniques. (LO3)
  • Liaise with the client in a professional and well-communicated manner, to ensure total client satisfaction. (LO4)

Synopsis:

The final product will be an EP of four tracks, all played and written by Your Cat is a Landmine. My role will be to capture and mix the performances of the band and to finalise the EP in a way that they are happy with. I may also provide creative direction and support.
